    IL CONTEST NEWNOW.19

    A first step towards change.
Light as a way of living with and relating to objects,
    energy and people.

2019 is a special year: Euroluce Light of Italy is celebrating its twentieth birthday. Twenty years devoted to research, innovation and experimen- tation, with the support of a remarkable wealth of experience, knowledge and know-how. Such a specialised and intense experience simply had to be followed by the generation of a new perspective and the opening up of another exciting chapter. Everything began in 2018 with the idea of celebrating twenty years of activity by promoting NEWNOW.19, a contest in which young designers and design studios anticipate new trends for lighting objects designed to bring man and energy together, combining aesthetics and functionality. The contest provided an opportunity to explore new markets and launch the challenge of renewal, developing the projects of young designers. The winners of NEWNOW.19 are Daniel Becker (Berlin), Alberto Ghirardello (Milan) and Sovrappensiero design studio (Milan).Light sparks attention and interest in the world. It is undeniable that it has a direct relationship with life and the way we live. The new designs aim to make this combination particularly enjoyable.

Sovrappensiero Design Studio was established in Milan in 2007 as a result of the creative partnership between Lorenzo De Rosa and Ernesto Iadevaia. Their first innovative project, “Design for blind people”, was presented at the Satellite Exhibition in 2008 and, since then, their journey has developed through continuous research, between experimentation and industrial production, to which they tenaciously apply their delicate and dreamlike poetics. Recognised among the most interesting emerging designers on the Italian scene, they work with various Italian design companies such as Porada, Bialetti, Incipit, Corraini, WayPoint and Manerba, with whom they created the Office+Retrofit research project selected for the ADI design Index. In 2014, they won first prize in the “Young & Design” competition, with the “Cook” project for Mamoli. Their product design activity is accompanied by the design of interiors and installations, communication and teaching at Politecnico di Milano and Bologna University.
